London Sights Day 1: The Thames by Lisanne and Thessa

The Thames is the biggest river in England. The Thames starts in Cirencester, then goes through Oxford, then he goes to Readins and London, and ends in the Northsea. The name of the river used to be ‘the Temese’, but people change dit to ‘the Thames’ to make it look Greek. The Romans started living at the North egde of the Thames in the sixteenth century. The Thames is 215 miles long, which is the same as 346 kilometres. The Thames also has ebb and flow.

The city London started growing because of the great placement of the Thames, which made it very easy to trade goods. The city started to make a lot of money and it became one of the most important cities in the world.

Some of the well known things around the Thames are: The Tower Bridge, Palace of Westminster, The Big Ben, Thames Embankment, The London Eye, Southbank Centre, Royal National Theatre, Tate Britain and Tate Modern, National Maritime Museum, Battersea Power Station, Thames Barrier, The O2, Craven Cottage.
