London Sights Day 2: Tower Bridge

Tower Bridge is the most famous bridge in London.
Tower Bridge is located next to the Tower of London.
The original reason for building this tower was because of the steam engines. The bridge was built because the steam engines had to be moved over the water somehow. Right now those steam engines are just used as a tourist attraction.
The construction of the Tower Bridge started in 1886 and lasted 8 years in total.
About 700,000 tons of concrete was needed to build these two enourmous blocks.
Originally the Bridge would be a lot simpler but because Horace Jones, the architect of the Tower Bridge, suddenly died, George D. Stevenson took over the project.
Tower Bridge is one of the biggest touristic attractions from London.
Tower Bridge opens about 900 times for the boats every year.
The bridge attracts a lot of tourists.
